What You Get – For Couples

Why go through the court process if you don’t have to? Get a neutral case evaluation. An experienced family law lawyer will help you and your partner go through the important issues together to determine whether the matter can be settled out of court. The lawyer will provide an assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of each side.

This is an open, transparent, and neutral process. Both parties will receive copies of any material provided to the lawyer.

  1. Contact us and let us know you’re interested in the ‘Case Evaluation Coach – Individual’ service.
  2. You’ll be assigned to a lawyer with experience as a Dispute Resolution Officer. Your assigned lawyer will also provide any additional services. You’ll get a copy of the Case Evaluation Service Agreement, an Intake form, and payment details.
  3. You’ll send your Intake form, and confirm that you accept the Case Evaluation Service Agreement. On the Intake form, you’ll outline the basic information, your position, and what you believe the position of the other party will be. You’ll also send a list of all existing court documents.
  4. The lawyer will send a quote for the cost of the service. You’ll send your payment information and confirm you accept the cost before any payment is processed. Once you confirm the fees, a deposit of $600 will be processed.
  5. The lawyer will schedule a call or Skype chat to discuss the case at a time that’s convenient for you. During the call, the lawyer will provide you with a neutral evaluation on the strengths and weaknesses of your case and provide expectations for the final result. The lawyer will provide practical advice to make your case stronger, increasing your chances of a favourable outcome in court or mediation. You can also get feedback on the fairness of a draft mediator’s Memorandum of Understanding or a settlement proposal. Once the call is complete, we’ll process the remaining payment.

  2. You’ll be assigned to an experienced family lawyer with experience as a Dispute Resolution Officer. You’ll get a copy of the Case Evaluation Service Agreement, an Intake form, and payment details.
  3. Each person will need to respond with an Intake form, and confirm that they accept the Case Evaluation Service Agreement. On the Intake form, each of you will outline the basic information, your position, and what you believe your partner’s position is. You’ll also send a list of all existing court documents.
  4. The lawyer will provide a final quote. Both parties will agree to the fee and provide payment details before moving forward. A deposit of $400 will be processed for each person ($800 total).
  5. The lawyer will schedule a 3-way conference call or Skype chat to discuss the case at a time that’s convenient for both of you. During the call, the lawyer will provide you with a neutral, third party evaluation on the strengths and weaknesses of each side and provide both sides with a realistic expectation of what the end result might be. This isn’t a mediation designed to get parties to agree on anything. This isn’t arbitration intended to bind anyone to a decision. The lawyer will provide independent advice on the possibility of settling matters outside of court and what to expect if the matter is decided by a judge. Once the call is complete, the remainder of the payment will be processed.
